Passes - What is needed where

These are by no means "ALL INCLUSIVE"

Passes are Parking Passes (recreation pass, Discover Pass, WDFW Vehicle Access Pass) If you are camped in the immediate vicinity of a trailhead in a national forest, you'll typically need a pass. Camping on USFS lands not near a trailhead typically does not require a pass.

Depending on where you are and where you are going, you may need no pass or permit, or you may need more than two. An example of where you will need more than two passes/permits - You intend to pack into Olympic National Park via the Quilcene: Parking at the trailhead within the national forest-recreation pass required. Your trip will take you through a wilderness administered by the US Forest Service-wilderness permit required, available at the trailhead. You will also be traveling and camping within the park boundaries-wilderness camping permit required which must be obtained from the park in advance of your trip (small fee).

These passes are all valid for access to sites in all National Forests:
      Annual Northwest Forest Pass
National Forest Recreation Day Pass (day use only)
      Interagency Annual Pass
Interagency Senior Pass (62 or older)
      Interagency Access Pass
Washington State Discover Pass web link Covers parking on all State lands
Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife WDFW Access Pass web link Covers parking on WDFW lands only

USFS wilderness permits are available at the trailhead.
National Park wilderness permits must be obtained from visitor centers (info for ONP, info for NCNP info for Mt Rainier NP)

USFS Region 6 - Recreation Sites Where Day Use Fees are Charged

Weed free feed required on all federal lands (USFS, NPS, USFW, BLM). NPS requires feeding several days prior to your visit.
