Home of the Capitol Riders, Olympia Washington USA
Welcome to our web site! We've been in the Olympia area since 1956!
Feel free to browse and learn more about us. Within you will find
some of our favorite photographs of rides and other events, information on future
events, links to equestrian sites and others of interest, and maps for trails, and horse camps (GPS location and camp site information with directions) including topographic maps.
Our mission -
||1. To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in America’s back country and wilderness.
2. To work to insure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.
3. To assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource.
4. To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public
commensurate with our heritage.
5. To foster and encourage the formation of new chapters in the state organization.
BCHW works closely with the US
Forest Service, National
Park Service, Washington State Department
of Natural Resources, the federal
and state agencies in charge of managing the public lands as well as private landowners.
For the year 2014, Capitol Riders worked over 2,850 hours, all of which are volunteer.
We are a chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Washington (BCHW), and are affiliated with Back Country Horsemen of America (BCHA)
See our Join Us page for meeting location and information on how to join our group. There is also a membership application.
As we are a chapter of BCHW, and BCHW is a 501(c)(3) organization, Capitol Riders is also a 501(c)(3) organization. Our IRS letter can be found here.
